Please point me to the exact phrase that I used that would lead you to believe that I think that the government is so benevolent?

Your argument is that only government can take care of social problems like homeless children. You've repeatedly expressed the thought that there is no realistic alternative in the private sector. Which, by the way, ignores my argument that even if you were correct about that, why send the money to Washington, why not cut out the layers of bureaucracy and pay the tax to local governments, which are the ones that provide the social services you discuss?

Where there is contention between us is in whether or not had they not been there, would the void have been filled by someone in the private sector. I think this question while debatable, can't be answered definitively. Obviously you think that it can be answered and I asked for an example.

I didn't realize you were serious about wanting examples. I assumed that because you express altruistic impulses, you've already found ways to act on those impulses other than feeling good when you pay your taxes. I've worked as a volunteer for private charitable organizations all my adult life. One organization I am very familiar with is Associated Catholic Charities, but there are literally thousands of others, e.g., House of Ruth.

Best way to deal with an incentive trap is to opt out and not play.....if you can.

You can't opt out of paying taxes.
