Your argument is that only government can take care of social problems like homeless children.

I did bring up that I thought that it wasn't legal to give a private charity the power to intervene in a family situation with children at risk. Rightly so, the parents have parental rights and due legal process should be followed even if the process is initiated by a church or charity. I think that the judicial system is the only place to terminate parental rights. Not once did I say that only the government can take care of problems like homeless children, in fact I gave several examples (churches and extended families) where other solutions have been used. Informal adoption is quite common within the African American community here in Baltimore. When I asked you for examples I wasn't talking about charitable organizations (I've done work for about sixty of them in my business, including Catholic Charities and the House of Ruth) I was asking for an example of a large scale modern society where these problems are taken care of without any government intervention. If what you say is possible, then there should be a modern day example of it actually working, don't you think? Or do these societies only exist in small scale or in history?

You can't opt out of paying taxes

Well you can opt out of taking benefits and you can scale down your living to a point where you pay very little tax. Unfortunately the tax code is such that even if you owe nothing in tax you still get hit up for SS. If they made it optional to opt out of that, it would collapse tomorrow, being that it's really just a pyramid scheme.
