Perhaps you missed this part:

>>>......Several conservatives have proposed raising the "acceptable" level from 40 to 70 percent as one step toward improvement. Feeling the pressure of criticism, the state recently announced plans to increase the acceptable level to 45 percent next year and to 50 percent by the year 2000. Given the state's reluctance to drastically improve standards, Parker believes the only hope for true reform is school choice. "The political control model is always going to pick a low level of achievement because it can't deal with the pain of forcing change," he said.

But of course Neocon if you read the critique from

law.harvard.edu

added to the above you might come to the conclusion that the TAAS based educational system really isn't helping children at all...high or low achieving. It's so mediocre and wretched many conservatives want to bail on it in favor of school choice.

From the poltical ads I can only assume Bush wants to make accountability in the form of testing a national policy. He's done such a bad job articulating just how this is going to happen I can only then also assume TAAS is the model.

Conservatives have good reason to be concerned. If TAAS is our future I might begin campaigning for school choice as well.

"I further think they hate Hillary Clinton because she represents a new kind of political force which, to them, is threatening..."

You got that right. A political force driven by, enabling corruption, propaganda, etc. is a direct threat to any of us who want a decent life for our progeny.
