"Hope we have turned the corner. So much negative sentiment, ...." If this is the total sum (or close to) of earnings warnings, then the pressure may be off for a while. The problem, however, is that the Fed hiked rates 6 times and this is the very first quarter that those rates have effectively worked through the economy. Since it takes 9 to 14 months for each hike to work through to the earnings end, we are at the beginning of more quarters like the present. There is another factor poised to enter the mix: tax loss selling. Mutual funds must complete tax loss selling by Oct. 31 while individuals have until Dec. 31. Ciao, David Todtman
