Monty, Re: Why did it hold at 23. Can you provide me with some fundamental analysis that explains why the price stopped at EXACTLY 23 after falling from 90ish?

No, I can't. But I'm absolutely certain that this has nothing to do with the gap -- unless you prove me wrong. Like I said: I gave some good arguments why a top of a gap shouldn't give support, you didn't give any arguments why it should (at least not scientific ones).

BTW, I didn't say that I don't believe in TA. You can predict stock movements, probabilities of reaching certain price target and especially support/resistance levels fairly well, as long as the fundamentals stay the same. If e.g. an earthquake hit Austin tomorrow and a fire would burn Dresden down, I'm very certain that the resulting gap in AMD's stock price would never ever be filled.

You seem to like shorting stocks, judging from your track record I saw posted here. Why don't you buy stocks with down gaps in it (e.g. Intel has a $10(!) downgap since last Friday)? Or could it be that you just like to prove people wrong who are betting heavily on the stock?

Andreas

Now I have a question for you. Why did it hold at 23. Can you provide me with some fundamental analysis that explains why the price stopped at EXACTLY 23 after falling from 90ish? Is there some fundamental analysis that you can provide that proves that 23 is the MAGIC LOW VALUE for AMD?
Monty

I wonder how much this type of technical analysis is a self forfilling prophisy. If a number of traders feel there will be strong support at 23 for technical reasons then some of them buy at 23 and keep the stock from declineing. How much does technical analysis predict what traders will do, and how much does it cause them to act in certain ways?
