At the turn of the century in Victorian England and America there was one prostitute for every ten men. Prostitution absolutely exploded during this era.

How did they make a living with such an over-supply? It must have been a short work week, even if all 10 men are figured as being part of the demand. Of course, it might have been part time. some of them might have run the roulette wheel!
