Scumbria, to me, a football band is atrocious music whether it is well synchronized or not (g). To others, Souza is music from the gods. Conductors indeed are asked from time to time to manage distant players (some composers use that special effect by requiring the positioning of some performers away from the main orchestra- the "behind the curtain effect"). That has nothing to do with the fact that you erred by writing Also, Due to the ultimate speed of light limitation, 1GHz signals can never propagate more than
30cm.
.

Admit it, your arrogance simply prevents you from simply saying "I erred". You have a big ego problem, my dear friend, face it.

Then you come and say "your statement were far from being fact", but do you show me were I did not state facts? no, you go into an irrelevant musical example showing how important synchronism is. I never argued the importance of synchronism. Can't you stay on the subject? Can 1Ghz signals travel more than 30 cm or not (and the "ultimate" velocity of light certainly has nothing to do with that, you may have meant the finite rather than infinite velocity of light, there is nothing ultimate about that).

Gee scumbria,

"Have you ever heard a marching band spread out over an entire football field? It sounds terrible. Why is that?"

Seems you chose an example that is not entirely true.... nothing new for you of course......

I marched in 200+ piece marching band for 3 years. We formed two solid company fronts, shoulder to shoulder from one sideline to the other on a football field. We did precision marching that filled the football field.... When we did dance numbers, we were spread over most of the football field. When we marched in block band (parades, etc.), we formed 25+/- rows, eight people wide. There is a trophy case filled with mementos of 1st, 2nd & 3rd (mostly 1st) place victories.

When we played, we got regular standing ovations from the crowds who saw us perform.... even received many ovations from other bands who we competed with..... I doubt that the tens of thousands of folks, plus those who competed against us, who gave these unsolicited ovations heard blaringly terrible sounds.

Our sound was amazingly clear & loud.... our conductor never seemed to have a problem directing.... or changing tempo.... FWIW, it had a lot to do with practice, determination & hard work..... but it was achieved...... regularly..... & our band was NOT an exception to that rule.....

However when we played in a professional football stadium or a field with hills on both sides, echoes diminished the quality...... so there was a small kernel of truth in your statement, albeit it is essentially flawed in reality as there are numerous instances when that statement is not true....

Perhaps your arrogance does not allow your thoughts to be anything less than irrefutable facts..... at least in your mind. Me thinks that is not the case though.... IMVHO, you know what you are doing when you post here..... regardless of the facts.
