CobaltBlue, re:ALA spokesman?

If you are talking about press article I posted , it was
P.Flynn the president of Alcatel's carrier networking
division, not spokesman. I read article and did not know what was his real message.
May be he was referring to the fact that not sufficient attention is paid to access portion of the network, which provide real content to customers.
I am guessing he was calling for balance, b/c without good access infrastructure, backbone only is not enough.

Cobalt, I worked for big telecom vendors. There, competition for R&D money is fierce. So it doesn't strike me that even within Alcatel a competiton may be arising between the fibre optics vs ADSL camp.

With all those developments (and the money going) in the fiber sector we have to infer that they are not developing that for the sake of it. It is going to be deployed. The arrow is pointing towards FTWE) (Fiber To Whatever) rather than ADSL uberalles.

ADSL had its chance. The window is now closing for it and opening for FTWE.
