I did not mean to imply that Flynn is a professional spokesman, whatever that is, I assume press agent. I meant that he was speaking for Alcatel - and he was saying that money spent on the fiber optics backbone was being misinvested, and that DSL over copper is the broadband technology of the future. I don't think he was talking about content at all, except to the extent that the purpose of infrastructure is to carry content. It strikes me as very odd that this statement should be coming now, during the on-going analyst debate as to whether the fiber optics industry will grow or decline in the future, especially since Alcatel is in both DSL and fiber. So you'd expect Flynn to have some insight into the future of fiber. It's against the interest of Alcatel to say negative things about fiber, so the fact that he did makes me pay attention.

In trial law, we call it "an admission against interest," and these are considered to be especially probative of the facts admitted.
