Unfortunately at the moment, the street isn't concerned about the spending forecasts put out by the telecom companies themselves. They rather put their faith in some analyst who is trying to get his 15 minutes of fame(Sagawa).

And if C&W invests $$$ to make their network more efficient (i.e. lower cost per bit), how can their competitors sit still? They CAN'T otherwise they will go out of business.

It's like Ferrari buys a new-technolgy based engine from an engine specialist which gives them a 20 mile an hour advantage......how likely is that Williams, & other Racing Team can avoid investing in the same technology? Without the new engine, Ferrari wins hands-down.

Perhaps the analogy is not as simple but it's clear that as we move to integrated app's, it will be very difficult for the Telcos/PTT's to avoid upgrading their network in order to offer new products/services and compete on an equal footing.......meaning big upgrade deals for capable vendors like NT (and even LU to a certain extent).
