INTC--Before the Bell - Xerox Xerox blamed the shortfall on much weaker-than-expected sales in North America and Europe and heavy competition. Corel Corp. (Toronto:COR.TO - news) (NasdaqNM:CORL - news) was up at $7-1/8 from a close of $3-11/16. The software developer said on Monday it formed an alliance with Microsoft Corp. (NasdaqNM:MSFT - news) in a $135 million deal, and Microsoft took a 24.6 percent stake in Corel. Semiconductor maker Intel Corp. (NasdaqNM:INTC - news) firmed to $40-5/16 from a close of $40-1/8 after the Semiconductor Industry Association said worldwide sales of chips hit record levels in August.
