re: "I don't think all the land we live on belonged to the Indians" You are right in the sense that the native Americans did not claim to own the land, but felt they were caretakers of it, at least that is my understanding. I like the concept of being "caretakers," whether or not we buy into the concept of ownership. As caretakers, we do not have the right to do anything that we want to do. We have to use the land well and preserve it for future generations. This means you can't just do whatever you want -- you shouldn't build a nuclear waste dump next to my home -- you should clear cut Redwood trees for a profit and destroy what took 2000 years to grow, you shouldn't pollute the rivers from which your neighbors drink. Clearly there are grey areas -- what should and shouldn't be allowed? But popular (not necessarily majority) opinion and common sense can lend insight into this.

L.." don't think all the land we live on belonged to the Indians. They did have land stolen from them that they used. It's pointless to go back"
It would be easy to see the claims on the land in terms of burials and artifacts......yes all the land was tribally 'owned'
from the deserts of the south... to the frozen north....ask any Eskimo how long they have been there........Deep Time.......
And ...is 'giving it back' pointless 'IF' it were to belong to You......we are not allowed to answer for Them......
This is a relative truth...and therefore
False....
Change.... my friend is all we Can and should Cling To......
Scary thought ehh.....?
