Your broker's job is to bring in business for his employer. You are not his employer. The securities industry is rife with conflicts of interest. All advise from a broker is suspect. If you don't have the time to thoroughly understand the stocks you invest in, then a mutual fund would be a better idea, because their managers have fewer conflicts of interest and other agendas.
