I guess the question you have to ask is what has Gore done for you in the last 7 years? What he gave you the Internet?

He hasn't done much now has he?

Bush had to fight to find words to fit in his mouth sometimes.

Did anyone ask Bush if he knew the name of the PM of Canada? We could have seen if he's learned anything during the campaign.

Bush seemed genuine in his answers. Gore looked like he was trying too hard.

My conclusion - still don't know who to vote for!

I try to figure what they stood for and how they acted long before the actual campaign, ultimately relying on my gut for the right pick.

Cirruslvr Re..<< One BS answer that stuck out was Bush's answer to what he would do if there were a financial crisis. He answered he would talk to Greenspan, sec of Treasury, and someone else and gather facts first. I could have pulled that answer out of my a$$ also... <<<<

That was a BS question because it didn't define what the financial crisis was, recession, inflation, falling dollar, etc. and Lehrer didn't define the depth of the problem. No answer would have been right for all situations.

Bush seemed genuine in his answers. Gore looked like he was trying too hard. <<

I thought GB was nervous at times, and it showed somewhat, however, Gore's tendency to try to dominate the debate by grabbing the mike and never letting go hurt him also. Secondly, Gore never seemed to answer a question directly, except when he could brag about himself. It seemed that whatever the question was, he attacked Bushs plans more than explaining whatever Gores plan was. Thirdly, Gore mentioned the tax cut going to the top 10% about 80 times which was way too often for me. Fourth if you are a fan of big government, vote for Gore.

Cirrus,

Gore is going for the meat of America (middle class) with his tax cut, Bush is going for tax cut for rich and poor.

If you say this, it is an evidence that Bush did not communicate his plan well enough. In short, Bush's tax cut is bigger, and all income levels get it, and at all income levels get more of it. His tax cut is neutral, meaning you don't have to do anything special to get a tax cut.

Gore has a modest tax for only his voters, and he has some "targetted" tax cuts, meaning you have to jump through his hoops to get it.

What happens with the difference between smaller Gore tax cut and bigger Bush tax cuts? Gore spends the money.

Like Gore's $10K tax deductible for college

The more deductions of any kind mean the tax rates have to be higher. Bushes lower tax rate achieve a similar effect, but you don't have to jump through this hoop and enroll in college.

Bush's giving money to people

I guess you are referring to vouchers. I think it is a great way from a system that is beyond repair in many places. If the government bureaucrat can't find the lowest quality bidder to provide kids with education, why not take the money from the bureaucrat and give it to the parent, and let the parent find a quality supplier of education?

Gore is going for the meat of America (middle class) with his tax cut, Bush is going for tax cut for rich and poor.

Actually I think Bush is going for a tax cut for just about everyone. The reason why Gore harps on "a tax cut for the rich", is because they will get a bigger tax cut in absolute terms. There rates will not be cut more but because they pay more taxes a small relative tax cut can be a large amount of dollars. Gore is going for a middle class tax cut but it is more specific and "targeted" then that. It basicly exludes the upper middle class, and a big part of
it is not lower rates but tax breaks if you do certain things or fall in to certain categories.

Military - Bush wants to spend more money to make it stronger. This answer keeps me away from Bush. Who knows how
much he'll spend...

I don't think it will be a whole lot more. The political support for a huge buildup is not there nor is the practical necessity. Bush talks abiut modernizing and improving readiness, not a big force increase.
