You don't seem to have a very good grasp of the facts here. Bush didn't suggest that Russia recognize Kostunica, Gore did. Bush suggested that Russia mediate with Milosevic BECAUSE of the long-standing relationship between Russia and Serbia. Both Kostunica and Milosevic are Serbians, they trust the Russians. If the Russians like Serbians, they have no reason to dislike Kostunica. Indeed, the Washington Post is reporting that sources in Russia are saying off the record that Russia favors Kostunica. Anyway, this isn't the place to argue this, and I suggest we just agree to disagree.
