Joe-- You're being simplistic in your analysis. Scumbria & Daniel seem to be fairly similar in political belief. I don't think there is a correlation between skepticism/ability to deconstruct reality and political belief. The former is more a function of analytical ability, with some weighting to experiences. Political beliefs, on the other hand, are primarily determined by political beliefs of the parents. Political sentiment is, like religious sentiment, roughly 80% correlated with parental beliefs.

In the case of both politics and religion, there is a lot of ambiguity, and it is very rare that a position is truly indefensible.

PS: Your statements about the percentage of the White House press corps that identify themselves as Democrats jives with the statistics I saw during my high school civics class.
