Jamok99,

Look at Elaine Garzarelli

She should quit while she's behind! I know a middle aged lady bought Kmart @12 based on her recommendation. She's not unlike Cher, her time has gone, but still dragging her old butt on MTV clad in fishnet, yuk!

if analysts are unwilling to do their job diligently enough, then it behooves a company to do their job for them.

Employment ad for analysts
1. Compensation: x00K plus spin bonus.
2. summer market doldrum vacation, 3 months mandatory.
3. must attend many CEO summits, analysts retreats at various exotic resorts.
4. Duty: receive next Q's earning estimates from companies, xerox it and distribute it to herd clients.
5. Other requirements: must be able to keep a straight face on TV no matter how ridiculous you sound.

if analysts are unwilling to do their job diligently enough, then it behooves a company to do their job for them. EMC corp. appears to do just this day-in and day-out - nearly everytime an analyst published FUD, EMC issues a clarifying statement or rebuttal, with the result that analysts are now apparently happy to let EMC do their
jobs for them - and one consequence is that the hi- to low- eps estimates between analysts are most always within 2 cents of each other, since they're all accepting the data EMC gives them.

Do you think that the new regulations on selective disclosure will effect this?
