Actually, I don't KNOW this. However, I started checking out a piece of information that a friend passed me.
Compaq didn't like the dilution of its brand due to the "Intel Inside" campaign. As a result, they chose to start using AMD more, since it allowed their brand name primacy over anything internal to the system.

I began to notice that more of the CPQ boxes coming out don't have "Intel Inside"....
There have been several articles alluding to this bit of information, but no...there hasn't been anything official as far as I know.

And perhaps I was a bit hasty to say "most of their chips". It is, however, clear that a "growing number of their chips" would have been more accurate.
