Kash,

It seems to me that the essential difference between these schools IS NOT the evil techers unions and administrators as the right wing fascists would believe.

I think it's time to get back on topic.

For those who don't get over to the Mod thread, I have started a contest for the writing of an AMD investment analysis report that provides the most convincing argument for investing in AMD. There are $100, $50, and $25 prizes for the three top entries. The contest is managed at the following location:

Kash,

Here in silicon valley, public schools based in affluent areas such as palo alto, los altos, los gatos, cupertino are as good as ANY private school.

My kids go to a private school in Sunnyvale, which is not only inexpensive, but much better than the public schools in my fairly affluent neighborhood.

Interestingly enough, they are among the very few American born children in the school. This also holds true for Cupertino public schools, which are heavily populated with Asians.

So there is CLEAR irrevocable evidence that PUBLIC schools can be great and they can be awfull.

It seems to me that the essential difference between these schools IS NOT the evil techers unions and administrators as the
right wing fascists would believe.

Kash, I agree that public schools can be great and they can be awful. IF they faced a competitive market they would be more likely to be great. As for the role of the teachers unions I think many on the right overstate it but IMO the unions do have a negative effect. They protect bad teachers and fight possible positive changes.
