John,

I am sure there is much we can debate here.
Whether or not the sale of PC boxes is a high
growth industry will be a raging debate for sure.
I thought the link provided was an interesting
commentary. Speaking from my own consumer
purchasing habits of late I can say that going forward
I hope my current PC lasts me a decade (I have
only had it for 5 months). It is definitely a
workhorse, but it is also a "durable good".

Personally I have had much more satisfaction and
enjoyment lately from untethered devices that dock
with my PC, than with my PC itself. The two greatest
PC innovations I can think of are my DSL line and my
new CD-W drive. I cannot envision this trend changing anytime soon.

Viking Memory Products

Highest Capacity CompactFlash Card at 256 MB

vikingcomponents.com

I would think market demand for high capacity CompactFlash
tapers off after 64MB, drops significantly above 96MB,
and plummets above 128MB.
