Why do you think the US needs a public school system. I think a strong argument can be made for public funding of education but public funding does not require a government run system. Tim, What does it require? ted Public funding requires merely that money be provided by "the public", or to be accurate the government. To provide for food to poor people from starving did the government set up government food distribution centers all over the US? No it introduced food stamps. To provide higher education for veterans did the federal government open schools specifically for that purpose? No the GI bill was created, and money went to veterans to use at universities which could be state funded or private. Tim
