Today the wind tore the yellow leaves off the trees and scattered them around for the first time this fall. The parking lot at my office was all covered with golden leaves. Unfortunately for me, I noticed that I only had one earring. I just bought these a couple of weeks ago, amber balls the size of the ball of your thumb hanging from a gold wire, too light to stay in the ear, when I tossed my head to toss my hair out of my eyes I tossed one out. And I couldn't find it, there was no way, the parking lot was blanketed with leaves the same color as the earring. So I am adding the one I have left to my one-earring collection, which I maintain out of optimism - some day I may find one of the mates, you never know.
