Everyone does what they are supposed to do. But there is no law that states when shit happens, it must not happen to you. I get agitated with the folks who blame the other driver when an accident happens. Indeed, I have almost caused a couple of accidents in my day, and I have been involved in a couple of accidents where both my judgement and the other driver's judgement went afoul. Ya, the "right of way" law said I was in the right, but I took away from the accident the realization that even having the "right" doesn't mean one can assume it, nor does it mean that anyone else will honour it. "Rights" have to be guarded, and protected. Just as I have the "right of way" at a green light, it does not negate me from looking both ways as I near the intersection. My right must be protected by my willingness to guard its sanctity. That's where Gore and his sidekicks are leading the American people down the wrong path. They try to tell us that Big Brother will always be there to protect us. Even Liberman, when asked how he would feel and what he would do as a Black American if he were acosted and detained failed to acknowledge reality. The REALITY is that one has the right to beak off and protest. As a person who was "discriminated" (for lack of a better word) as a child because I was a Protestant minority in a Catholic school, I know that the best defense most of the time is to shut up, put up and pray that they don't beat the shit out of you. REALITY also dictates that if you are a Black American being acosted because of the colour of your skin, you shut your mouth, answer the questions, and pray. There is nothing you can do but panic inside, while showing calmness and cooperation outside. THAT is reality, and Liberman didn't win any points with those who truly have a discerning mind. He said, "I would be so mad I would want to hit the wall." Ya, but if you hit a cop instead, you would suffer like Rodney King, pure and simple. There are times when tranquility must take the place of anger, because anger and protest would only make things worse. Rights be damned, REALITY always gets in the way. Big Brother didn't lift a hand to help Rodney King that night. canuck-l-head Eh?
