Yeah.. but Cosmic... where I draw the line is someone stealing something and killing or attacking someone in the process.

There is a clear difference between a burglar who once caught in the act, flees or surrenders.. and one who attacks and kills those who discovered their criminal activities.

And many burglars used to NEVER carry weapons, whereas today it is quite common to hear of victims who were shot or stabbed upon catching a burglar in the act.

Someone that is willing to kill or grievously injure another human simply because they caught them doing something criminal deserves to be put away for life, if not drawn and quartered in public.

As for enterprise zones, it has been a recommendation that goes all the way back to Ronald Reagan in 1980 (caught part of that old debate being replayed on C-Span this evening)... And I totally agree with the idea.

But we have a history filled with poor people who strove and overcame their humble beginnings through moxy and sheer stubborn desire. For those people to have sympathy upon those who choose to violently subvert all the good things they have tried to achieve is simply ridiculous.

I'm the first person to help someone who I am convinced is trying to help themselves. But I'm also the first person to walk by any able bodied "homeless" person pan-handling for change, and I'm not afraid of telling them to "get off their lazy @sses and get out there and work for a living like the rest of us".

This society is gradually losing not only its sense of outrage, but its sense of shame.

Regards,

Ron
