elmatador - I'm not sure what planet you are on, but here on earth, DSL is expanding so rapidly that providers all up and down the chain can not supply the demand. In my area, SBC has increased the number of DSL connects BY A FACTOR OF TEN in the last 6 months, and still the backlog has grown from 30 days to 90 days to accommodate the demand. I see crews out every day running fiber and putting in local switch capability to support more DSL. The last two hotels I stayed in (the Hyatt in Bellvue WA and the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco) now offer DSL in your room.

CPQ made 100% of their consumer systems DSL ready more than a year ago, with single-button connectivity if you have DSL service. Likewise, they test for G.Lite capability and will auto-configure if it is supported. My sense on G.Lite is not that it is dead, but that the rapid drop in price and increased availability of ADSL at twice the bandwidth has just made G.Lite a less attractive choice.

By the way, I have had DSL for more than a year, before that I used cable modem which was also fast. I have not considered using a thin client - in fact I have upgraded several of my home computers so that I can more effectively process the pictures and video I now get via the high bandwidth connection.

Thin clients are great for terminal replacement at banks and insurance companies, outside of that I doubt they will make much headway.
