The Tower Commission found that there were miscommunications. If there were lies, we'd have seen indictment, convictions, disbarment, contempt of court, and possibly impeachment. Only Clinton holds that legacy.

Clinton, as a liar, is an anticlimax compared to Reagan, Poindexter, North et al.

You see X, I'm of just the opposite opinion..

I can forgive someone who has lied in order to protect national secrets far easier than forgiving someone who SOLD national secrets and then lies about it.

After all, what did these guys lie about?? They sold arms to Iran, in exchange for American hostages held in Lebanon. And the proceeds they used to fight a communist regime in Nicaraqua, which subsequently fell.

While I don't condone lying... I certain see lying for the purpose of advancing national interests as a far less "impressive" than Clinton being able to personally call James Riady, a close friend. Despite the fact that he was wanted for questioning with regard to Chinagate, and allegedly is a Chinese intelligence agent.

And it certainly is far less sinister than selling the White House to chinese intelligence operatives.

If Reagan lied, it was for the purpose of maintaining the secrecy of a covert operation where lives and the credibility of the US foreign policy in the mid-east were at stake. Clinton lies for the sake of lying. And worst of all, he lies when a simple apology would suffice.

Personally, I think you have your priorities wrong...
