Dave,

I'm just trying to get some idea of what this might ultimately cost the bottom line through a boost in the MG&A costs. If a PC slowdown actually materializes, AMD could boost advertising to stimulate demand or take market share, but how much would it cost? Some ballpark estimates would be appreciated here. ;-)

Dave,

<<The bottom-line is that AMD needs a brand.>>

Couldn't agree more, from the point of view that fair or not, the perception problem that AMD has in the marketplace, and on wall st, is almost as crippling in reality as if they did, in fact, produce inferior junk. Need proof - look at the PE! Until, and unless, it is addressed (and there are several means to do that, including active information management by AMD's MIA PR dept), I think that all of us on the thread will be continued to be subject to that 'catch-22' frustration of AMD's price always being subject to Intel's 'gravity', and in its shadow.
