In absence of a good thermometer, even this bad one is a useful tool, as long as it's consistent. Joe, I consider the BLS statistics. It helps me get a feel for what the other guy is thinking. You live in New York City. I'm sure you've noticed what's been going on around you. Do you really need the BLS to actually come out and say inflation is running higher than 3% for you to believe it? Maybe New York is the exception, unless you live in Silicon Valley, or Minneapolis, or Phoenix, or Boston, or...... chic
