Chic,

the inflation in real estate prices is running at rate of 15 to 20%, if not higher. The rents of apartments that are on the free market are rising at similar rate. Everything else is less problematic, but still noticeable.

But I am not sure how housing costs are factored into the inflation numbers. I am pretty sure they are not part of the consumer price index.

chic, if the BLS data is so bad, how come some conservative think tank hasn't come out with a "shadow index?"
