William: 27 billion is big coin... This is the tip of the iceberg for Japan's financial institutions... Their accounting regulations leave much to be desired by American standards... Many banks have real estate on their books at the original inflated values... If these properties were restated at real market values, I believe most banks would be bankrupt by U.S. standards... This is only a guess based on what I've seen so far... Jim
