I got my linuxrouter diskette working last night!

linuxrouter.org

Cobbled together from surplus 486 parts, running at a blazing 33 MHz with 16MB RAM, 10-Megabit NE2000 network card, and 56k modem. I mean, what other useful task is there for an old 486 box? Look Ma, no monitor, no keyboard, and no mouse! Well OK it's got a CD-ROM and 170MB HD but it's formatted for DOS and I have a few diagnostic / configuration programs stored on it.

Now that I have the basic distro working with PPP dial-on-demand, I might try the 1.68MB format with DHCP and caching DNS. I wish I had cable or DSL in my area but oh well, I use what I got and optimize it.

PS, version 3 of the SETI client is out, I expect to upgrade some time this weekend after I churn out a few more packets.

Can anyone shed some light on the overclocking of a PIII 750E processor? Is it really simple to overclock it @133Mhz and to have it run at 1GHz?

TIA.
