Texas apparently had some sort of law which is ignored or ineffective allowing one man in the Byrd murder to escape the death penalty...that's the point. You seem to be implying that being convicted of a hate crime would or should automatically mean the death sentence. Is this true? Have you read the transcript of this trial and verdict? I haven't. I have no idea why one man "escaped" the death penalty and "only" received life. Do you? I'm sorry but I don't see, without knowing these things, that there IS a point.
