It's magic!! Seriously, I think I'm not fooled. This word "impersonal" just means that I'm part of the whole and nothing more or less. I was going to use the word apersonal, but no such word exists in my dictionary, though SI doesn't flag it as an error. Go figure! I want apersonal to have the same relation as amoral has to moral (as opposed to immoral). Moving on, imagine all of us as marbles on a taut rubber membrane. Our weight causes a depression and draws others near to us like gravity. There are also waves on this membrane. You and I are riding one now. The wave doesn't "care" about us in the sense that it cares about one marble more than another. It does, however, seem to like the fact that there are marbles. All marbles are equal in the eyes of this force; but IT just IS. So we slide around on the membrane, some of the disturbances being our own, some from others, and some from unseen forces (manifestation of the WOW, discussed below). There are many ways to play the game. We can't ignore the effects of others (this is the same as the multi-body problem in gravitational physics). We don't exist in a vacuum so our interactions with the membrane are affected by and cause effects upon others. There are consequences that arise from these. Steve touched upon this but used less mystical words to describe the phenomenon. I think Steve and I are in the same boat, to steal from a previous metaphor. Now this is where my metaphysics comes in. The forces are NOT limited to those of material physics and that which can be explained. Weird stuff CAN happen. I can locally change the gradient, very slightly, with my consciousness. I can create interactions by using my will and make such interactions even more likely by getting others to join me in willing it. You could call this prayer. "God" (I will permit its use in this context), is one layer out from you, me and the others. It is the Will of Wills. I will abbreviate this as WOW. It is the source of the "other" disturbances that aren't from the marbles interactions with each other. Now, 'click', switch to wave mechanics. If you and I are on a wave and we 'will it' to go "higher" and the WOW is favorable to our "will" then, we go "higher". It is impersonal because I don't directly know the WOW, but I can FEEL the WOW and see its results. If I'm going the way things "want" me to, I get better results than if not. I'm "lucky". On average though, luck is like a bank account that fills very slowly. It can run out if you persist in doing things that go against the WOW. One should never rely upon the WOW to do something that they could do themselves with enough effort. The WOW provides the nudge that you may need to get over the hump when you don't have it in you to get what you want.
