I totally disagree with you on this. Universities are a seat of learning. Getting a tenure as a professor in reasonably decent institution is more difficult than getting a high paid job in private sector. I have very high regard for them.
I am sure you get angry because they may impart opinions that are contrary to conventional beliefs and hence the academicians are called liberals. It is in the nature of the job. Learn, learn, research, research, discover, discover and come to conclusions based on previously established facts. You gave me an example of Galileo some time back. He too did the same thing (not in University) and discovered that earth was not the centre of universe. He was probably branded as a liberal for his views at that time.
Of course there are many wise people outside colleges.
