Bill Clinto calls Al Gore:

"Uh, Al, 'bout that oil I ordered be taken out of the Strategic Reserve, gotta talk to you 'cause it's looking bad in the Middle East right now.."

"Bill, you sonofabitch, I got you to withdraw it so that people might be able to warm their homes this Winter and make me look good ...are you telling me you can't do it now?"

"Well, uh, Al....I got some bad news for you..."

"You asshole, Bill, always stabbing someone in the back.."

"Well, Al, I gotta do what's best for the country this time, and things look rough over there. We might need that oil for strategic reasons, just as it was planned...so sorry, Bud"

"I don't give a sh*t, Bill, things aren't looking good for me now, and you're gonna make 'em worse? Thanks a lot!"

"Well, there's are these jobs at Tyson Hillary and I are looking at. Want me to put a good word in for you? I hear you got a lot of experience in the chicken biz, Al"

"F*** you, Bill"

Ibexx, war is good for rallying the troops. Maybe better than a market slump is bad. Anyway, the market slump can be over before the election since it's not based on anything serious [as far as I can tell].

Isn't 'Capital Hill' where Uncle Scrooge has his Money Bin and the political seats are on 'Capitol Hill'. capitolhillblue.com

A week is a long time in politics. A week is a long time in financial markets too. The New Paradigm is no laggard either.

There seems to be a parallel with 1980, when the hostage crisis worked against Jimmy Carter and contributed to his defeat. Much later, it turned out the Republicans had apparently persuaded the Iranians not to return the hostages until after the elections. Just a little illegal nosing around in foreign policy by civilians with an agenda.

There is some evidence that the same thing is happening now, with Republican advisors encouraging the more radical Israelis to make provocations that would cause the peace talks to collapse. Hope this isn't true, but the Republicans are not exactly inexperienced with campaign dirty tricks.
