Flatsville, I did not mean to imply that proponents of hate crime laws were conspiring against white males.

I do not believe in conspiracies, there is no way you can have more than two people involved in anything without word getting out. As far as I am concerned all conspiracies are nonsense.

What I meant is that if you look at these laws from the perspective of a white male, the laws tend to imply that they are dangerous people who must be kept under control or they will run amuck burning crosses on people's lawns (if white males are not such a danger, then why do we need the hate crime law to begin with?).

I can see why anglo white males would find these laws offensive. Also, I am bothered by the fact that the laws punish people for their thoughts and attitudes.

I think that these hate crime laws and affirmative action only serve to widen the divide.

The only way you can eliminate prejudice is for people to know each other on a personal level. If you set people at odds through laws or policies that distinguish between blacks, hispanics, women, gays, etc., all it does is perpetuate an "us vs. them" mentality.
