Keep up the rhetoric, and keep the oil flowing. Talk never hurt anyone.

I would normally agree with that Steven... But I'm concerned as to why Clinton's call for an emergency summit was scoffed at by Mubarak and the other Arabs...

It was truly embarrassing for his wishes to be denied and reflects just how little power and influence he has in the region now....

This strikes me as a bit deeper and I'm not quite sure of the angle the Saudis are playing here. Surely they don't wish to see the region ignite into all-out war than may leave the Israelis going nuclear.

Could it be the Saudis are doing their bit to pay George Bush Sr. back for helping them out in their hour of need back during "Persian Excursion"?

Conspiracy Theory at its most extreme, I admit... But you have to admit the logic is compelling...

Regards,

Ron

<<Which is what they (the Saudis) will do, as they have done for the last 20 years. Keep up the rhetoric, and keep the oil flowing. Talk never hurt anyone. >>

I see from your posts you don't "play" in the market! Every player understands how the markets can be talked up & down - more-so the commodities markets than equities.

How can you deny the effect of Saudi(the country with the world's greatest reserves) statements on the oil markets?
