well, i'd say the they can only play with a stock so much when there's enough volume and coverage of a stock. how far down can it be manipulated by a firm if there's another likely to step in and buy if it's manipulated down 10%? sure, a thinly traded stock, with only one instituional buyer, can manipulate the stock. if it's yanked down far enough, it will be brought back to equilibrium by purchasers who are aware of the fundamental value of the stock. when you see huge declines, it's typically the mo mo investors exiting a stock such as MRVC (read mutual funds like PBHG). firms such as PBHG have a history of exiting without consideration of the stock price and fundamentals.

From your Yahoo link:

<< I just got off the phone with Diana Hayden, MRV to report most likely Nov 1st or so, and after Luminent IPO, which she says will "be any day now." >>

What the hell is going on? Yesterday, no firm schedule, even for road show? Or pricing? Having to monitor the market on a day-by-day basis? Today, 11/1 will now be AFTER the IPO? A 1-day turnaround in the market is enough to set everything up so that NOW LUMN comes "any day now"?

Anybody else that doesn't like the sound of all this? Just for once, it would be great to get some straight talk from the MRVC PR department.
