Something doesn't make sense about this heating oil mess. We are lead to believe supplies are dangerously tight in the US and no spare refining capacity to speak of but there is spare refining capacity in Europe and Asia. Why on earth would US refiners ship heating oil to Europe because they can get a "better price"?

Heating oil isn't price controlled in the US so what is the story? Oil companies afraid they will get into political trouble in the US for charges of price gouging like they did with gasoline this summer in Illinois? (That was a cute little deal, the price of gas dropped like a rock when it looked like the price gouging movement was picking up steam.) I'm beginning to question if supplies really are all that tight.
