Joey Lewis was an old time drunken comic that would stand up against a piano, with his drink held high, and yell "post time!!!" to begin his act. The play "Pal Joey" was written about his life, and the incident where he made the mob mad, and had his throat slit from ear to ear, but he survived the attack. Needless to say, his voice was a bit raspy after that.

<<Who the heck is Joey Lewis?>>

It's Joe E. Lewis. Unlike you guys I was too young to be drinking in his day. He did bit parts in a few flicks some guest shots on TV and a lot of stand up comedy in Vegas years ago. He told one too many jokes about the mob.
