Sam and Rick,

My general impressions of M-Systems has been the same since I originally evaluated them. I believe they will be a big consumer of NAND flash. They are not a flash manufacturer and fall more into a fabless category with Toshiba (if I recall correctly) doing most of their custom work.

I don't believe that FLSH threatens SanDisk directly in as much as I don't see them entering the flash card business in a cost-effective way, or at least with any cost advantage as compared to SNDK. Also, I am not buying into the theory that embedded flash will replace removable flash cards anytime in the near future. The markets for the two product lines (embedded vs. removable) don't have much overlap currently. This situation will need to be re-evaluated from time to time.

As far as the Saifun connection goes I suspect that SanDisk is very interested in their technology for their embedded microcontrollers in the SDMC products. This interest has been announced and SanDisk has made an investment in TSEM. I see SanDisk licensing the technology from Saifun for future applications.
