Fiscal responsibility = paying down the debt (or at least trying hard to). It also means waiting until we've paid off that debt to do something needless and irresponsible like giving tax-breaks to the upper income brackets, oil industry and who knows whatever cronies. It means keeping interest rates and inflation low. Unemployment low. Finding a way to keep the poor who can't get health insurance from ending up in emergency wards every time they keel over. Both candidates are promising more than they can deliver. The best course is a steady one. Don't fix it if it ain't broken. America is doing just fine now if case you hadn't noticed.
