((Maybe it's time for Bush to come clean and become such a role model himself. Don't ya think that doing so would do wonders for those now going through a rehabilitation process. Ah, I forgot. Bush is playing politics and won't tell. ))

You did forget. He went on national TV on Oprah and talked all about it. He told all about his drinking and how and when and why he made his decision to quit.

PT,

I have no immediate sources for this, outside of my memory, and have no urge to waste time reading the archives of the Dallas Morning News from 1990-91, as I don't think it's important to this election decision, any more than I think Al's alleged heavy dopesmoking by his old college buds is. It's just something I recall from the early days of GW running for governor here against Ann Richards, who had been a much more dysfunctional alcoholic by her own admission. GW and his wife talked openly about his drinking to the press. I can remember her describing how he just said "that's it" and never drank again, and how she admired him for it. He didn't avoid the issue at all.
