Jenna, Thank you for the compliment on the thread.
It means a lot coming from you, my teacher, the person who has taught me more about trading than anyone else, and truly deserves credit for the fact that I am a survivor in this wild and wacky market. Last week the thread proved itself to be far more successful than we EVER expected.

As partner in this thread, a decision had to be made as to who's name would appear on the header as only one name can appear....but this is my thread also, Nok and I are partners. I was disturbed to find that the heated "discussion" of Pristine and the real time room has moved to this thread, I think it should continue on the gems thread or elsewhere. Or in pms...

This thread was is a thread created by Nok and I as we needed a new "home" and a place where we could post in our own style as we please. We also received help and ideas and LOTS of encouragement from others who were looking for the same thing.

Some well known traders with many followers have come to roost here as they have seen their friends here and have decided to hang out while "in between" homes...this has now brought some of the heated discussions formerly on the marketgems thread to OUR thread, where they TRULY do not belong.

I invite anyone interested to start a thread on their own with the sole purpose of discussing, bashing or even just giving their opinion on "gurus" or real time chat rooms.
I'm sure it will take over the top of the hot list on the first day.

Real time chat rooms are great for some, I myself found I felt isolated, far away from my friends on SI who I missed terribly and as you know I can be "uncontrollable" as far as my frequent postings...so I have moved to a place where I can be free to post, on whatever I want to post, WHENEVER I want to post. And if someone tells me to stop posting so much, I will again pack my bags and move on. <g>

Nok is not nervous, she is not feeling well and was upset I'm sure as I was to see the nasty discussion of real time chat rooms move to our thread...part of the reason it was time for us to leave the gems thread, it's too bad it has followed us here.

So I am posting this new rule to all: The Personal Bashing of anyone on this thread and will result in being blocked from access to this thread. This is not the place for that. This is a thread for traders to work together to highlight potential profitable trades that come and go so many times during the day.

Please - to all - PLEASE take all discussions of real time trading rooms, SI gurus and whether to pay or not to pay for trading rooms for another thread. Everyone has to find their own niche - for some who need education a trading room is best, other free spirits like myself prefer the freedom of SI. I have found my niche here I believe, and hope it will remain the friendly. helpful place that it showed itself to be last week.

Susan

My 2 bits...

Being the wonderous gooroo myself, I've decided to contribute my thoughts... :P

overrated nature of bluetooth.

marconi is a gem.

nok you canadian? i am :).

My several month old theory of LUcent getting sacrificed for NT and CSCO continues to strive. Analyst telecom spending is truly ANAL.

community.metamarkets.com

Alan Luber who puts out a great email alert on networkers called
"Broadband News" just sent out an interesting note from the Corning
(GLW) conference call. Luber asked whether they were worried about the
slowdown in cap equipment spending by telcos.

The answer: "Indeed, many of our customers are announcing they are
going to spend less capital next year. We are not concerned about this
for two reasons. First, this is the time of the year that carriers say
they are planning to spend less and they usually end up spending more.
More importantly, there is a big shift going on in where they put
there spending. Even if overall spending drops, spending in the
optical area will grow. Fiber is 4% of the cost of putting the next
generation network in and it provides enormous leverage for the
telecoms. The shift from optical away from SONET and swtiching
networks provides tremendous cost advantages. You can naturally drop
your spending and pick up tremendous advantages through optical
networking. You must invest in the new technology or die."

big plethora of earnings this week. tons of my favourites too. now that the street has frontloaded all this negativity, things may actually make sense.. you can buy news now that it's actually new news.

some other random thoughts... once u get to a certain trading capacity, you no longer really need to "services" or whatever of things like pristine market gems..etc...etc.. you should be able to do it yourself, this is much like playing golf. you go for a training camp, or maybe a season of lessons with a "pro". Or in some cases you get your best friend's boss to teach you or something. But eventually, you do want to tour the courses yourself, but more importantly, with a few of your buddies. That's what is always best. Your buddies...

nok, you will find that with an open forum, albeit moderated, you'll always be exposed to far too many externals... Ideally, what you would want to do is maybe even go private and setup your own chatspace, invite only, with maybe 10-20 of your trading buddies... all this being free ofc...

If you're trying to do that on here.... well the mechanics of SI make it a little harder... good luck with all the gooroo policing ;)
