The labels on oil paint now has a warning that reads, "Prolonged exposure to this product will cause nervous system damage and brain damage." Notice they say will cause, not may cause. The only question is, what is prolonged exposure? I was in the painting business for 10 years. Is that prolonged? I didn't paint all the time, half my time was spent hanging wallpaper.

I used to think a lot of the old time painters were punchy because they were drunks, but maybe it was the fumes that had gotten to them. It was probably a combination of the two.
