I am wondering if I/we shouldn't just sell out of everything next time this comes around...I sold out of techs, high flyers, etc. but kept or bought other things ( some reits, some metals, some beaten-down retailers, etc). I don't think it helped my portfolio much, took up my time and you had to time the market pretty well to make money. My big problem was thinking that I/we could find some stocks that would continue to go up in price regardless of what the market did...big mistake, for the most part.

As a part-time investor, it seems that trading for six months a year would be efficient and rewarding.

Thanks for your comments, Rande.

My initial trading in microcaps (from WJ's thread) showed
a related result this year..very strong in January and
February, but weak since around March 6 with the high
in the Nasdaq.

The apparent seasonality was something new to me, and I
appreciate the analysis. I only play the long side now,
and this has also helped me realize that longer-term,
playing the short side is necessary also.

I read your posts, and others, but make my own decisions,
as you recommend. Keep up the good work!

Matt

market guess- with most people watching for rally to fail, my guess is we get some follow through, some whipsaw, and we claw our way back to 3500 area, then get smacked down hard again, final capitulation results, and then they turn the market loose again, that scenario would cause the most pain and frustration, so i guess i agree with the w bottom scenario, oil is key indicator right now
ready for tomorrow! i think we get some more upside short term, which means fibre is still hot area
scmr jnpr sdli mrvc cien should all be very tradeable
cheers
