Clinton is putting the prestige of the US on the line -- lets hope it works. I do not know what the political calculations look like in this mess, but in this game of poker you can be sure that aces are wild -- and some of the dealers have their finger on the bottom of the deck. I can understand the hesitation in the market here. As Clinton said "we cannot afford to fail". He might have meant "I cannot afford to fail". On that he would be correct.
