if ZTE announced that they have a SIM card in their phone and the only other system there is GSM, then wouldn't make sense to have them run the same lower level code?Either overaly GSM or be compatible with WCDMA when it arrives?

Curious as to why the statement was made.


One reason, as has been discussed here before, is that the spectrum that will be used for the CDMA network is owned by the parent, not its GSM subsidiary.
