In meantime some example of media manipulation:

biz.yahoo.com

Richard Thomson, Columnist wrote:
"Meanwhile, Alcatel, the French equivalent of Lucent, continues to
insist that sales in at least some of its divisions will rise by a
healthy 30% in the third quarter of this year."

ALA stated that entire company will grow at least 33%, most likely 35%. In
the some statement ALA said that
unit which combine optics and internet activity will grow 30%, but of
course Mr.Thomson forgot to say what that
pure optics will grow in 70% range as indicated by ALA.
He went even further and suggested that optical grow in general may slow(LOL).
Hard to believe how writers can twist the facts.

columnist wrote:
"But that can't divert the market's suspicions that it will suffer from
the same problems of slowing demand for optical systems,
circuit switching and other techno-wizardry that, until only a couple of
weeks ago, investors saw as watertight business. Therefore
it was not too surprising to see Alcatel's shares drop 10% to 68.70 euros
after Lucent issued its profit warning.

Slowdown in Lucent optical business contradicts soaring demand as proofed
by GLW,NT,ALA and JDSU comments and
results.
ALA has no exposure to circuit switching in US where demand is dropping
quite fast. ALA has exposure in Europe,
Asia and S. America, where demand will remain healthy for some time and ALA
sell much less circuit switching then Lucent.

ZO,

I'm not sure why you persist in stating these are my opinions or CSCO's when I've already told you i have the report and am stating facts from the Del Oro report....

per unit ASP's for ALA DSLAM's have gone from $8051 per unit to $3731 per unit according to Del Oro... Now you know - I know - everyone knows that there is some funny business going on here since DSLAM's are far more expensive than this. For example CMTN's DSLAMs were 19,240/unit last year... and have actually increased in value - to $29,200 this year. And CSCO prices have been steady around $15,000. So, you tell me.... what funny buinsess is being played and by whom? ALA is so far under the market price one can only assume - from the data - that they're giving the stuff away..

BTW: Same on the CPE where ALA prices have gone from $236/unit to $197/unit.

I'm just stating the facts as they are written - not opinions.

However I will give you an opinion... VDSL is going no where.
