My high school algebra teacher (big Hispanic guy from south Texas) swung the meanest paddle I ever received. Both hands ala baseball bat. Would literally lift you off the floor. Ran an excellent class, discipline wise. Only one trip to the office made sure of that. We need those types in school again. Respect would be back. I always tell my kid's teachers they have my permission to whale the tar out of them. And to call me when it happens so I can reinforce it again when they get home. Turns out my kids don't seem to cause trouble in school. But I can't figure out why. alan w
